Born in Adelaide and growing up with a creative family, Karin dabbled in many crafts as well as mending and remodeling broken jewellery. As an adult she was able to use her skills to make items to sell at markets. She also worked a short time for a large jewellery manufacturer in Melbourne, making hundreds of pairs of earrings.

Moving to Tasmania in 1986, Karin continued to do the occasional market and began to focus on beading. By the mid 1990's she was able to start her own business, Karin Boyle Beadcraft, selling her work through the Artefacts co-operative in the Salamanca Arts Centre in Hobart as well as having a stall at the Salamanca Market. As her business grew she stopped doing the market and focussed on selling her work through retail outlets, the annual Tasmanian Craft Fair and Agfest.

In January 2006 she had the opportunity to share space with an artist friend and held her first exhibition in the Off Centre Gallery at the Salamanca Arts Centre. Here she was able to show off her skills by creating stunning one off pieces. The exhibition success was a wonderful surprise and gave her the encouragement and feedback to continue her passion to bead.

In the following years she branched into taking her work to peoples homes calling it Studio To You, where she was able to sell her work direct to the public. Noticing that her energies were stretching a bit thin, she closed down the Studio To You option in mid 2009.

Karin designs and makes every piece of beadwork herself, from the popular lines to the more elaborate one off pieces, using beads that come from around the world as well as from her local area. Being surrounded by the beauty of this amazing island and living in the Far South of Tasmania is a constant source of inspiration for her work.
